Icon picker compatibility against launchers

Icon Theme: apply icon theme from launcher settings, all icons in drawer and home screen will be themed accordingly. Obviously all launchers have this feature.

Icon Picker: change home screen icon one by one manually and individually, pick one icon from theme and replace.
ADW.Launcher and Holo Launcher icon picker are not compatible with my theme application now. Hope this can be fixed in the near future.

Why some themes don't support GO Launcher Ex

Although there are millions GO Launcher Ex users, GO does not support themers, they just make things inconsistent. Themers must create new package for GO if they want to support GO.

When designing icon style, there is a stuff called icon mask, which help themers to create any awesome  ideas. However, the usage of GO Launcher Ex mask is just the reverse of other launchers like ADW, Apex, Holo, Nova, etc. It makes themers feel hard to support compatibility to GO.

Here's my icon theme Ripped Hole Icon Theme, the icon mask works in ADW, Apex, Holo and Nova perfectly, but in GO:

It's just like ripped icons instead. The effect is cool. lol

Of course, once my design don't need icon mask, I will go back to support GO Launcher Ex.

[Tutorial] Apply Icon Theme in GO Launcher Ex

To apply icon theme, you MUST have Go Launcher Ex installed. Read here for details.

1. At home screen, press Menu button, select "Preferences"
2. Select "Visual settings"
3. In "Icon Style", there are three parts you can apply your icon theme, "Theme icon", "Dock icon" and "Folder icon" respectively.

 

Customize your Android with ADW/ Apex/ GO Ex/ Nova Launcher

ADW/ Apex/ GO Ex/ Nova are the best desktop launchers replacement.

What is launcher? Why do you need a launcher?

With these FREE launchers, you can apply themes, change icons appearance, wallpaper, adjust widgets size and icons size, and enjoy a lot of visual effects, etc. I.E. Manage your home screen and app drawer.

- ADW.Launcher works with Android version 1.6+, you can apply icon framework, but not change icon appearance one by one. It is recommended for old devices.

- GO Launcher Ex works with Android version 2.0+, there are not only basic functions, but also millions widgets you can choose. The only disadvantage is it eats a lot of resources. It is recommended if you do not have Ice Cream Sandwich or above yet. However, if you feel slow, try ADW then.

- Apex and Nova Launcher only work with Android version 4.0+, they provides strong features and visual effects, as well as excellent performance, they both response very fast but won't eat your system resource. It is recommended if you already own ICS or above.
